Huge Changes

This past week I have not planned or thought about a single wedding detail other than the things I have already planned. The reason being, because we are going to basically be changing everything in our lives. We are moving to Utah County. Random huh? Well Jeff is going to be going into the Nursing Program at UVU, mainly because he won't have to wait for a couple years. Plus with gas prices sky rocketing we can't afford for him for me to commute to work on 9600 South in Sandy to Ogden everyday; just not a possibility. So UVU here we come.

Moving to Happy Valley means Jeff has to get a new job, which he has been speaking with American Fork Hospital. Problem is he doesn't know if to wait till after we are married or just deal with the commute for the next couple months. Any suggestions? If he stays at South Davis he has plenty of PTO for the wedding and honeymoon, but then he wouldn't know if there will be a job available and that pays well enough after we get married. If he started the new job now, he could work in the department he wants to but we might have to delay our honeymoon.

So life after wedding will include: new job, new area, new school, and of course being newlyweds. CRAZY!!!

P.S We will not be Cougar fans anytime soon.... GO UTES!!

Say Yes to the Dress Moment

So I had a really unique experience for finding the perfect dress. For the last year Danielle, our moms, and I have probably seen all of the Say Yes to the Dress shows. We have talked about the day I would find my dress and the different dresses that we liked and whatnot. Well I went to try on dresses about a month ago and it was horrible. I went to Fantasy Bridal, mainly because I had won a certificate at a bridal show and thought I'd check it out. I so wish I hadn't. I tried on at least 10 dresses, each one worse than the previous ones. The consultant did not listen to anything that I said and what I was looking for. Plus half the time she wasn't anywhere to be found. It was a horrible experience and I would warn anyone looking for a dress to completely steer clear of that place.

When we were looking for the bridesmaid dresses, all day I had said that I didn't want to try on any wedding dresses. I was so firm and sure I wouldn't try on a single dress that day. I wasn't in the mood and the first time we had went was a very negative experience and I wasn't too keen to repeat it that day. We had looked around at Gateway Bridal and I had found this adorable tea length dress that was really flirty and I instantly fell in love with. It was a really tiny sample size so I made Dani try it on for me. Since she is the perfect sample size, no joke. I had that dress and a Maggie Sottero dress in my head, I was so sure that one of the two dresses was going to be MY dress. We went to another store to look at some more bridesmaid dresses and found the perfect one.  So after we found the bridesmaid dresses the consultant said she would take $20 off each of their dresses if I tried on some wedding dress. So I reluctantly agreed.

Well the first couple dresses everyone else liked, but I wasn't wowed. I really felt like I was just going through the motions and my heart just wasn't in it. Plus I had the other two dresses in my mind.  Then some random lady came over and whispered to everyone that "she had my dress." I was like okay... I'm pretty sure I have seen every dress in there and hadn't had that reaction. So a couple minutes later she emerged from who knows where with this dress. It was extremely similar to a dress I had loved in a magazine, the only difference was the neckline. The dress in the magazine was from a retailer that was only located on the east coast.  I tried it on and when I went to stand in front of the mirrors my mom started crying and everyone else started crying...which made me cry. I really didn't even know how to react. I had found my dress and had completely forgotten about the other two dresses.

Its all in the Details

I have been a failure at posting to our blog. Every day has been filled with work, wedding planning, and planning for all the major changes about to flip our lives upside down. Since my last post there have been a lot of ups and downs to wedding planning. I am not going to lie the first month of wedding planning was so stressful and dramatic that I seriously considered  eloping. I always thought that it would be so much fun and I never considered the drama behind every decision. Anyways, now all the major things are taken care of and I am having fun with the planning.

Some quick wedding details...
  • Ring ceremony, brunch, and reception to be held at the stunning Canterbury Place Reception center.

  • We are being sealed at the Salt Lake Temple at 2:20!
  • We have found and ordered the bridesmaid dresses, well 2 out of the 5 have been ordered. They are so cute, but you'll have to wait to see them.
  • I actually have found, bought, and are in possession of my wedding dress and veil. Now to find the right shoes and accessories. Plus I need to go see alterations for them to make my custom bolero.
  • I have booked my photographer. The amazing Dave Jaffa, of Jaffa Photography and Jaffa Printing. You can see his work at www.jaffaphotography.com
  • My DJ is booked.
  • I have picked out the cake that I want, which is adorable.
  • Jeff has picked out his wedding band, which I just have to go buy now.
  • Oh and we have ordered my mom's dress, which I thought was going to be a nightmare. She has been very nervous about it. But we found it and ordered it. It was actually a lot of fun and a day I will always remember. I'm pretty sure everyone else in the store thought we were crazy off our rockers.
We still have a ton to do in regards to the actual wedding day, but I know they will be much less stressful and I am no longer stressed. Thank goodness.

Save the Date

This last week has been a trial and filled with drama. If you have been on our blog you might have seen the switching back and forth of our wedding date. It seems that every day and sometimes by the hour the wedding date changed. Its so hard to find a date that would work between summer vacations and school and the lives of immediate family members. But now its set in stone...August 18th it is!!! Save the Date!!
